Searching
The search page allows you to search the online documents, milestones, tasks, files, and comments in the projects you are a member of.What information is searchable?
You can search items belonging to you and project items in your project workspaces. All fields and comments associated with an item are searchable. Word, Powerpoint, Excel, HTML, PDF, RTF, OpenOffice Text, and plain text (txt) files attached to items are also searchable. How do I perform a search?
You can initiate a search by entering your search terms into the search bar in the upper-right corner of every page. After the initial search, you will be taken to the search page (see bottom of page), which will present you with more search options. What are the default settings for search?
By default, searches are case-insensitive and only items containing all of your search terms are included in the results. The search engine will automatically search for variations of a word: for example, if you search for "searching", the search results will include items with the word "search", "searches", and "searched".Can I search for an exact word or a phrase?
Yes, to perform a search for an exact word or a phrase, put the word in double quotes (i.e., "first draft").Can I narrow my search to specific items?
Yes, if you click on the [options] link next to the search button, you will be presented with:The first drop-down allows you to limit your results to:
• all items — items in your personal and project workspaces
• project items — items in your project workspaces
• my items — items you created that are not archived
• my public items — items you created that are publicly-viewable
The date drop-down allows you to limit your results to items modified:
• any time — all items regardless of modification time
• today — only items modified today
• yesterday — only items modified yesterday
• in the last week — only items modified in the last week
• in the last month — only items modified in the last month
You can use the "today", "yesterday", "in the last week", and "in the last month" options with an empty search to see all changes from those periods. An item is considered modified if its contents changes or comments are added to it.
Do you support more complex searches?
Yes, you can use the "OR" and "NOT" operator to help narrow your search.OR - Use "OR" to search for items that contains either words. You must use "OR" and not "or".
NOT - Use "NOT" to exclude a word from the results. You must use "NOT" instead of "not".
